About the song….

 Makin’ Love Is Easy Dear

( But First It Has To Be Hard )

It was written by me, Gary Huntbatch, in the year 2000. I was single again and busy at work when my mind began to drift a little, as minds do, and I began to wonder. “If your single too long would you forget how to make love”?  Then I thought about swimming and riding a bike, you may be a little out of practice but you never forget the basics do you? Makin’ love is easy I thought. Then in a Benny Hill moment came the phrase ‘but first it has to be hard’. Well I couldn’t stop laughing could I? So that very evening the first version of the song was created and recorded with the help of my Tecnhnics keyboard and my BOSS BR8 digital recorder. My friends had a good laugh when they heard it. It was some time later that I thought it might make a good video, but who! Who! would I get to act it out. Then came along my new bride Jessica, who ‘layed’ to rest my earlier question on forgetting how. She said she would love to play all of the characters in the song, so I set the wheels in motion. After talking to film maker Andrew Forster www.forsterproductions.com  I realized the words would have to be changed a little to fit locations that were more viable. In doing this, the song became funnier. Jessica, I find out, is a real ham. She plays all of her five characters like a pro. In my opinion she is the star of the show. And so, without further adieu, we proudly present ‘Makin Love Is Easy Dear (but first it has to be hard)’ by Izzy Allcock and the Four Players.

Who are Izzy Allcock and the Four Players anyway….

Glad you asked. Well…the name just fits the song doesn’t it? It’s us, Jessica and Gary Huntbatch. Jessica moved up from San Francisco ( we were married there) after a romance of no more than 24 hours, but… …more about Jessica later….   My previous claim to fame was in the 1960’s in the town of Wolverhampton in England. If you were enjoying the music of the day and lived in the Midlands or the south of England you may remember a band called ‘Steve Bret and the Mavericks.

We had our own TV show ‘For Teenagers Only’ featuring guests like ‘The Dave Clark Five’ and Denny Laine and the Diplomats’. In the band were Steve Bret, Johnny Millington, the now world famous jazz bass player Dave Holland and myself, I played drums. I now live in British Columbia Canada where I play in the folk band ‘1066’, a blues band ‘Deception’ and have occasionally sung jazz standards at local restaurants. I co write music for a childrens theatre group called ‘Theatrix’ visit www.theatrixyoutheatre.com  with my friend, childrens entertainer and educator, Mr.I. Visit www.mrichildrensmusic.com

Together we also produce a series of childrens educational CDs called ‘Facts and Fun’. In the fun part of our CDs I take on the character of a crazy Englishman who’s always up to something silly. We recently wrote songs for a  CD on teaching children how to multiply (soon to be DVD) called Googol Power. This particular effort won an INDIE, the juno equivalent for independent artists. Well enough about me let me tell you about my crazy wife Jessica…

………………Born in Cincinnati Ohio she moved to New Orleans in her early twenties working at the famous Arnauds restaurant and rubbing shoulders with the likes of Clint Eastwood, Bette Midler and many others. Some years later when the New had worn off the Orleans she moved to San Francisco where she was employed upholstering luxury yachts. She learned the art of upholstery from her father, Bob Durant, who was a master craftsman doing custom work for the auto industry. Jess’ was also involved making costumes for the movie industry and the local Renaissance Fair.  Her most prestigious costume was for Olivia Hussey. A fabulous fantasy costume but she can’t remember the movie title. Well, then she met me didn’t she, on a visit to see her sister here in Abbotsford B.C. ..we got married, and here we are presenting our first of what I hope will be many, silly productions.
